Event Recap - Wanderlust 108 KC 5.21.2016

On May 21st I participated in the Wanderlust 109 KC event. It was supposed to be a Mindful Triathlon with a 5k run, a yoga session, and then 30 minutes of meditation. You could also sign up for bonus activities like Tribal Body Painting, Slack-line Yoga,  Ariel Yoga in hammocks, Hula-Hooping Yoga, and more. There were several ladies from the KC Express going, so it would be a great group event.

I met Quiet Melissa at 6:30 to get in 7 miles before the event started. We settled for 5.06 and called it good. I'm glad we got in several miles early.

The 5k 'run without competition' began at 9am. Brandie and I decided to walk the course together and chat. It took us 50 minutes to complete the 2.66 mile course. Not quite 3.1 miles, but it was nice to catch up.

I ran into my friend Yogi Cierra

After the run/walk, I thought there would be several events, but it ended up being people laying in the sun on their yoga mats. I did try the slack-line yoga. It was fun, but I wasn't great at it. Not sure that I'd be excited to do that again in a yoga form, but slack-lining itself seemed fun.

The main yoga/dance party got going around 11am, and was hosting by MC Yogi, and DJ who incorporates yoga with his music. That was fun.

My oldest had a baseball game that afternoon so I had to leave before the meditation session started at noon. Overall, I had fun. But I'm not sure that I would go again. I think I'd rather just go to a yoga class in a studio. Or even the park. But I'm not sure that I need to attend a huge yoga party like that again.
