The morning was really nice. I got up and was at the race site by 6am as they had emailed out with concerns of highway construction, parking issues, and I just always like to be early. I picked up my packet, found my pacer stick and band, and chatted with fellow runners and friends.

What the selfie looked like
About 7:10am I headed out to the start shoot to line up and greet the people that would be running with me in the 2:35 pace group.
We started out well, running for 2 minutes and walking for 1. The group of people around me were great and ready to run. I've been chatting with a woman on InstaGram named Michael - @slowtrigirl - and this was her pace time, so we were able to run the race together. It was a beautiful day - a little cold at the start, but it warmed up to be a perfect running temperature.
The race went well without any major hitches. I was trying out a new waist pack, which ended up to be way to big to run with. It has double water bottle holders, and I ditched the water within a half mile. I liked having the space to hold a hat, gloves, applesause, pacer stuff, and more, but it was just too big. So, lesson learned - it is more of a hiking pack than a running pack.

I finished my 45 lifetime half marathon with a time of 2:36:54.3 - right where I needed to be for the 2:35 trailing pacer. I felt great after the race, and am looking forward to next year!

NOTE - Maybe I'll be able to add more pictures to this post soon, but I don't have any on-course photos as the race photos do not post well, and the race has been unable/unwilling to fix the photos as of this posting.
