The race started at 7:30am, but I got there early as I was meeting my running club, The Kansas City Express, early for a group photo. This is a goal race for a lot of runners that have been training all summer, so we try to do it up right, with a group photo before hand and a great breakfast afterwards.

And who stops at just one selfie, right?
Heather, Brenda, Tracey, myself, and Brandie lined up in the start shoot.
Brandie and I ran the race together with the goal of getting the most race jump photos on the course as possible. I'd kind of decided that I wasn't going to run this race for time, but rather just enjoy it and the chatting with Brandie as the miles went by. And I thought Brandie was on the same page. But, I'm not sure who twisted who's arm, but we ended up checking our watches and kind of going for it. I did take a few quick walk breaks as I seem to have lost my 'slow down' pace. Opps.
After being home a couple of hours a spectator messaged me with this photo thinking I'd want a copy. Um, yes please! And thank you! So awesome!

Brandie and I ended up finishing the race pretty darn fast - well at least for me. I PR'd by 51 seconds!
At the finish with my medal.
With Brandie at the finish.
After this it was off to breakfast with the girls. Another great Plaza 10k in the books!
Running Plaza 10k with you was the most fun I've ever had at a race!
ReplyDeleteSo...your PR on the right hand column of this page still shows Great Plains 10k. You might want to update that.
